New Planner Recruiting Announces Inaugural Winners Of CFP Exam Scholarship
To advance the growth of financial planning and CFP certification, New Planner Recruiting, LLC, is proud to announce the winners of its inaugural CFP® Exam Scholarship award for 2014. This year's winners - Jamie Engelken from Kansas State, and Joseph Stallings and Peter Geckeler from the University of Georgia - all demonstrated unmatched passion for the financial planning profession, superior performance in their academic careers, and utmost commitment to the CFP® certification according to the selection committee.
Geoffrey Brown, CAE, CEO of NAPFA and Michael Branham, CFP®, Chairman of the Financial Planning Association served on the Scholarship Selection Committee, along with Caleb Brown, Founding Partner of New Planner Recruiting. When asked about his involvement, Branham shared, "The Financial Planning Association strongly believes the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) mark is the pinnacle of the planning profession and those who work to attain it are in a position to serve their clients with competency and distinction and I was honored to participate in the selection process and in seeing where Jamie, Joseph and Peter’s careers go from here.”
Geoffrey Brown, who was hired one year ago as NAPFA's CEO and sought to strengthen the organization's relationship with newer planners added, “New Planner Recruiting’s commitment to the next generation of financial planners and encouragement of the CFP® certification is important for positioning new professionals for long term career success. NAPFA fully supports their efforts to build a pipeline of next generation professionals and their work in guiding the careers of young financial advisors.”
The scholarship announcement was sent to CFP Board Registered Program directors nationwide and when informed that one of her students had been selected, Kansas State Assistant Professor of Personal Financial Planning, Ann Coulson, PhD, said, "What a wonderful opportunity New Planner Recruiting is providing to our very best students to help them afford to take the CFP(R) exam in a timely manner. This is an exceptional opportunity provided to new graduates to get them on the road to being successful Certified Financial Planner(TM) practitioners. We are very proud of Jamie for winning this scholarship; she represents the best from K-State Personal Financial Planning!"
The University of Georgia Financial Planning Program had a particular strong showing with two applicants being selected this year. John Grable, PhD Assistant Professor said, "The selection of Joseph and Peter from the University of Georgia for this scholarship highlights the strong partnership that New Planner Recruiting has forged with our student organization. Both Joseph and Peter represent the best qualities of students enrolled in the financial planning curriculum -- a dedication to the profession, a strong desire to give back to the community, and a willingness to go above and beyond minimum expectations. Thanks so much to the Scholarship Committee for supporting these fine students.
The New Planner Recruiting annual CFP® Exam Scholarship program provides a reimbursement to the scholarship recipient for the fee incurred to take and pass the CFP® Exam.
